AUGUST 2010:

Well we managed to completed our second challenge with this years Hike and Bike event in Northern Ireland. We started with a simple stroll (!) along the north Antrim coast with the section from Portballintrae to Ballintoy given the somewhat dubious measurent of 8 miles....I'd like to take this opportunity to deny all liability for that under estimate - laying all blame at the door of an anonymous Quantity Surveyor!

We finished the walk stage in Ballintoy on Saturday 14th August and eased our aches with a few sports drinks at the local pub, ready for the 50 mile cycle ahead of us. The cycle from Ballymena to Portadown was more challenging for some this year - lets just say cycling a tandem that weighs more than a small family car, combined with a severe lack of training and tropical weather, the likes of which Ulster has never seen combined to make this cycle comparable to a stage on Le Tour.

We had a truly great weekend and thanks once again to everyone who participated to make the weekend a great event for everyone to get together and raise funds for 2 brilliant causes. Once again it was a fantastic tribute to Andrew.

You can see some photos of the event here and still donate to either charity from our donation page, thanks again to all who participated, volunteered or donated.

Kind Regards,

The Best Family
